Will Ant-Man die in Quantum Mania?

In theory, Paul Rudd's Scott Lang would have died, but did Ant-Man really die in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Fever or did he survive?

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

^ We reveal whether Ant-Man died in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Madness after theorizing that Paul Rudd's hero would perish in the Capper trilogy. The latest entry in the Ant-Man series is the third in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sub-series, and since it's unclear if Rudd will return for a potential Ant-Man 4, it could be the last. Many of the MCU's sub-series end with a third film, so Ant-Man is also a possibility. Of course, there are a few exceptions -- namely Thor, which got a fourth entry in Thor: Love and Thunder, and Spider-Man, who is about to get a fourth movie.

In preparation for the hero's possible final solo movie, it was theorized that Ant-Man would die in Quantum Fever as a way of sending Rudd's Scott Lang off - and making way for Casey Lang to lead the way. After all, Phase 4 of the MCU spent a lot of time introducing a new generation of heroes who could someday become some of the most important characters in the franchise. With the exception of Iron Man and Black Widow, though, none of the original Avengers died to pave the way for their future. successor. In quantum mania, that's still true.

Despite these theories, Ant-Man would die in Quantum Frenzy, but he survives to the end and can come back to fight another day. These theories depend heavily on the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Fever trailer, which seems to show Scott Lang making a sacrifice in order to defeat Kang. However, the sequence arrives roughly halfway through the film, and while the possible Ant-Man version does reach the end, no one technically dies. Then, during the climactic moment of Quantum Mania, Kang did almost defeat and possibly kill Ant-Man, but Scott was saved by the Wasp and they ended up defeating the villain.

Ant-Man Does Not Die In Quantumania

Since Ant-Man survived Quantum Mania, he could return in a future MCU movie. Based on the list of confirmed upcoming Phase 5 rosters, Ant-Man's most likely return is Avengers: Dynasty Kang and Avengers: Secret Wars. Since Ant-Man has already faced and defeated a mutant of Kang, it makes sense that he would play a key role in the Avengers assembled for Kang's dynasty. If Luther's hero survives that movie, he could return to Secret Wars. Of course, even if he dies, Rudd can return for Secret War, but as the Skrull's version of Scott Lang.

When Ant-Man Can Return In The MCU

Aside from the Avengers films, it is unclear when or if Ant-Man will return. Since Scott Lang fought alongside Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in Captain America: Civil War - after Sam made a cameo in the first Ant-Man movie - Rudd appears in Captain America: The New World Order or Thunderbolt. Very unlikely. However, since Scott has only tenuous ties to these characters (though Captain America still has a reputation), it's unlikely he'll show up. Instead, after surviving Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Madness, Ant-Man is most likely to return in the upcoming Avengers movie.
