Static cosplay reminds fans his costume is still the all-time great
Even though he wasn't mentioned in the best superhero costume company, this cosplay of Static proves why he should be.

Of all the superheroes whose costumes have been hailed as one of the best in comic books, Static is a low-key contender that is rarely mentioned, but a cosplay proves why he absolutely should. It's been fascinating and impressive to see how Static's clothing has evolved over the years. When he originally debuted at Milestone Comics in 1993, Static wore a simplified all-black bodysuit reminiscent of a Spider-Man design, but with lightning bolts around the torso and back area. He often wears this outfit with a long trench coat and black mask, with a baseball cap with a white X on it.
When he was transferred to the DC Universe, specifically the DC Animated Universe, Static's costume got a major upgrade with the introduction of the animated series Static Shock. For anyone who doubts the iconic nature of Static's current outfit, just look no further than cosplayer @swaggycosplayer, cosplay photographer DTJAAAAM who shared his amazing Static outfit on Twitter. This cosplay was spotted at Ohayocon in Ohio to give passers-by a look at what Static would look like in live action, and it's especially fitting in lieu of the recently brought Static to big screen. This wicked cosplay will show exactly what makes Static's modern outfit so good, and why it deserves more credit for being among the best.
What Makes Static's Costume So Awesome

When Static Shock debuted in 2000, Static's look was updated, his mask was changed to white, and he now wears a matching white shirt with a yellow lightning bolt logo on his chest, yellow goggles, black pants, and a pair of A white and blue jacket. Throughout the show's four seasons, Static aka Virgil Hawkins would make minor changes to his costume (i.e. his mask and shirt would be black, while the rest of his body would be a darker shade), but the show Iterations of the 1990s have become so iconic that it's clear to serve as the inspiration for Static's modern look at the current DC Comics.
Static's current suit is one of the few manga costumes that works as well in live-action as it does in the comic books and anime. Comic book suits are always going to be hard to come by in real life and not look silly in real life. Here's Why Wolverine Makes His Big-Screen Debut With a Leather Coat Instead of Pointy Ears And why Superman in underwear always seems to be a touchy subject. Static's costumes, on the other hand, are breathtaking enough to stand out, yet simple and modern enough to be replicated in 2023 in a way that makes the transition from comics to real life seamless.
There are a small number of heroes that meet the same requirements. Spiderman, Batman, and Wonder Woman might come to mind, but this cosplay reminds us that Static's costume is so impressive that he should be mentioned in the same company more often than he already is.
