David Dastmalchian Ant-Man and the Wasp: New Characters in Quantum Fever

David Dastmalchian's Kurt may not appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Fever, but his new MCU original character Veb is a nice tribute to the actor.

WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

David Dastmalchian is back in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Fever, but not in his usual role. Scott Lang embarks on a journey through the Quantum Realm with a few familiar faces, but conspicuously missing are a group of his ex-con friends. Maybe the subatomic trip was a little too much for Lois, Kurt, and Dave, so they're rightfully left out of the movie.

The MCU is no stranger to reusing actors from different roles, such as Gemma Chan playing Sersi in Eternals after playing Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel. However, David Dastmalchian is one of the only people to have played both roles in the same trilogy. Dastmalchian's new character voices the character Veb, a nod to the first two films.

Who & What Is Veb, Is David Dastmalchian's New Character From The Comics

Veb is a pink slime-like creature that appears in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Fever and lives in the Quantum Realm. Part of the freedom fighters of Jentorra and Quaz, Veb was displaced by the destruction of Kang the Conqueror. Veb is an original MCU character, and without a comic book counterpart, it's hard to know exactly who or what he is. When Scott and Cassie first landed in the Quantum Realm, they were spotted by the freedom fighters And fed the viscous fluid that Veb claimed came from him. This allows Scott and Cassie to understand their language, suggesting that there must be some strength in Veb's DNA.

Veb served as a comedian in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Fever, but his relationship with the Freedom Fighters may give him a larger role in the future. Jentorra is the leader of the Freedom Fighters, who first appeared in the comics as part of the Microverse's group of fighters, the Microverse. With so many similarities between the Microverse and the Quantum Realm, Freedom Fighters could be considered the MCU's tribute to the Micronauts. While Veb is an MCU original, it's likely his character was inspired by one of the Micronauts' members.

Why Does David Dastmalchian Play A New Character (What Happened To Kurt)

Despite David Dastmalchian's new role, Kurt may still be alive on Earth. While the trio of X-Con security advisors have been of great help to Scott in the past, the Quantum Realm may be out of their reach. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is already a completely different movie from its predecessor, with its mostly Quantum Realm setting but with past comic relief characters removed shows how serious and high the risks of Quantumania are.

Kurt is a much-loved character in the Ant-Man trilogy, and while his absence in Quantum Mania may disappoint some, the film has no shortage of David Dustmechian comedy . Veb is an original character in the MCU, and he may only have had a minor role, but his connection to the Freedom Fighters may lead him to a larger role in the future. The MCU loves to capitalize on their comedic characters, so it's no surprise that both Veb and Kurt will return for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Madness in some way.
