'The Witches of Mayfair': Release Date, Trailer, Cast and Everything You Need to Know
Is it the chill of winter, or the breath of a fairy?

As winter sets in and you feel the chill in your bones, know it's not just the season, but the witch of Mayfair slowly drifting towards your home as the New Year arrives. Also titled Anne Rice's The Witches of Mayfair, the new AMC series is the latest adaptation of author Anne Rice's novel trilogy Life of a Mayfair Witch. The series joins another of Rice's recent network adaptations, Interview with the Vampire, as the second show based on the author's Immortal universe. The Witches of Mayfair aims to focus on the first novel in the series, A Witch Hour, and follows Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who learns she is the scion and heir of an influential family of witches , and the family seems haunted by dark forces.
The supernatural fantasy horror series was created by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, who also serve as executive producers on the series, along with Mark Johnson, Anne Rice (posthumously) and Christopher Rice. In December 2021, AMC ordered the eight-episode series along with Interview with the Vampire, which was released earlier this year. At New York Comic-Con in October 2022, the network announced the series' release date and official trailer, adding new content to their long list of horror series.

When Is Mayfair Witches’ Release Date?

Mayfair Witches was originally scheduled to air on January 5, 2023, but has since been rescheduled to air on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 9.08am, with first episodes on several AMC channels, notably AMC, BBC America, Sundance TV, IFC and WE TV. After the premiere, the series will air and stream weekly, with new episodes arriving on AMC and AMC+.

How Many Episodes Are There in Mayfair Witches?

The recently released official trailer for Mayfair Witches will likely give you a similar vibe to Interview with the Vampire, but without the blood-sucking undead walking around (or are there?). More of a grim gothic atmosphere and tense narrative, the two stories may be similar. The clip suggests that, like her other stories, Rice's vision of a witch's life will be through the eyes of an uninformed, inexperienced Newcomer, she will delve into the history of Mayfair's dynasty and discover her true identity. The trailer also shows through gorgeous and psychedelic cinematography that this fantastical story will go beyond what we've seen in the genre in the past. It's almost like walking through a story game. Also, in addition to all the fantastical settings, the series will explore magic and mythology, secret societies, and more such aspects of witchcraft, which will make it an even more mystical experience. AMC has put together an interesting ensemble cast for The Witches of Mayfair, starring Alexandra Daddario (White Lotus), Harry Hamlin, Tonga Ichilisa and Jack Huston. Daddario stars as the story's protagonist, Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who discovers that her ancestry is linked to the Mayfair witch dynasty; Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, the current head of the Mayfair family; and Chirisa Ciprien Grieve, Huston stars as a shape-shifting entity that has been associated with a family of witches for centuries. Griff is not a character taken directly from the original novel, but Two characters, Michael Curry and Aaron Laettner, they both appear in The Witch Hour.
Among other recurring roles are Annabeth Gish as Rowan's estranged mother Deirdre Mayfair and Beth Grant as Carol Carlotta Mayfair, Erica Gimpel as Ellie Mayfair, and Jen Richards as Jojo.
AMC Productions by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul producer Mark Johnson, both AMC originals. Spalding is an American author, screenwriter and poet, best known for FX's The Bridge, CBS's Battle Creek, and Showtime's Masters of Sex and On Becoming a God in Central Florida. Ashford is an Emmy-nominated writer and producer known for writing and producing HBO's The Pacific and Showtime's Masters of Sex. The Witches of Mayfair is directed by Michael Uppendahl (Mad Men), Haifaa Al-Mansour (The Walking Dead) and Axelle Carolyn (Midnight Club). Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice are also credited as executive producers.

Is there a Mayfair Witches Trailer?
Mayfair Witches is the second AMC project in Anne Rice's Immortal universe, the first being Interview with the Vampire, which was released this fall. The Mayfair Witch is based on Rice's series of novels, Life of a Mayfair Witch. The series began in 1990 with the first part of the trilogy, "The Witch's Hour," followed by "The Lasher" in 1993 and "Tartos" in 1994. All three books reached the New York Times bestseller list. The trilogy revolves around a family of influential and powerful witches who are guided by spirits known as Lasher. The first novel introduces Rowan Mayfair, scion and newest heir of the New Orleans Mayfair family. The family is a dynasty of witches who communicate with and control a prevailing entity called the Lasher. Rowan's arrival makes her the 13th witch and completes the coven, making Rowan the key to what will be the main focus of the series. Who's In the Mayfair Witches Cast?
Based on the first novel in Anne Rice's trilogy, The Witches of Mayfair will focus on protagonist Rowan, a young neurosurgeon living in California. Following the recent death of her estranged mother Deirdre, Rowan is shocked to discover she is the new heiress to a prominent Mayfair family. As she explores more about her family history and background, she realizes that she, too, has a certain power. As she struggles with her newfound powers and struggles to adjust to her new identity, Rowan must also deal with the evil forces that have haunted the family and haunted them for generations. From now on, future episodes may include the other two books in the novel series if the series is approved for more seasons.
