'Rookie' Season 5 Cast and Character Guide

Before we get into new cases, let's take a look at some familiar faces!

^ Rookie Season 5 has been fantastic so far, luckily we won't have to wait long for it to reappear on our screens! After the Christmas break, the series premieres in season on Tuesday, January 3 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Created by Alexi Hawley, The Rookie follows John Nolan, a 45-year-old construction worker from Pennsylvania. After helping the police during a bank robbery, John decides to take the plunge. He moved to Los Angeles to start a new career as an officer with the LAPD. As the oldest recruit in LAPD history, John embraced this major career and lifestyle change despite the many challenges.

Over the past four seasons, John has worked in his post with many colleagues, detectives and sergeants who form a family that we are now also attached to. So, before Season 5 returns, check out this handy cast and character guide below to remind you of where we left off and who played them!

First, in short, John is a good guy. no he's not perfect but he's unbelievable Friendly and charming, and our moral center on the show. Someone who is honored to share advice and equally honored to receive it. A man with a sense of humor can also be a shoulder to cry on in difficult times. He's grateful for all the experiences life has given him so far and what he's learned from them, but he's also excited to learn more, no matter how difficult it may be. Luckily, he has many caring friends, now family, who are there for him to support him every step of the way. In Season 4, we saw John become a union representative for his department, another way he could help his friends and colleagues. So far in season 5, John has secured his coveted position as a Trainer (TO) and has been assigned to train his first rookie, Celina Juarez.

Nathan Fillion as John Nolan (Rank: Police Officer II)

Nathan Fillion has starred in many popular television shows over the decades, including Firefly, The Castle and A Series of Unfortunate Events. He's also appeared in video game franchises like Halo and Destiny, and most recently in movies like 2021's Suicide Squad.

Lucy goes through her novice training With John at the LAPD. She is also hardworking and determined, however, she can also be overly ambitious and eager to prove herself at times, which can sometimes sabotage her actions. During her first few years of service, Lucy went through a lot of trauma, such as being kidnapped and trapped in a barrel far away from the desert. Still, she's very strong-willed and won't let these events define her. Like John, she was always gracious with the support of her friends and remained motivated to pursue her career goals at the LAPD. In seasons 4 and 5, Lucy continues to work with her co-workers after completing her novice training. However, she is often drawn to more complex assignments involving undercover work, for which she takes guidance from Nyla. In her social life, to the excitement of many fans, she also broke up with Chris in order to go on a first date with Tim.

Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen (Rank: Police Officer II)

Melissa O'Neil is an accomplished singer who won the third season of Canadian Idol in 2005. After releasing albums and appearing in musicals, she turned more to television, appearing in such Dark Matter, iZombie and Condor.

Prior to joining the LAPD, Tim served as a Marine Corps squad leader in Iran and Afghanistan. He took his police job very seriously, a seriousness that rarely faded even when he was off duty. Tim is grateful for his friends and family, but sometimes it's hard for him to show it. We first meet Tim when he is designated as Lucy's TO. True to his usual character, he is very strict and only focuses on nurturing Lucy, not on being her friend. However, the two quickly developed a strong bond, which led Tim to open up to her and others at the station. In Season 4, under Wade's tutelage, Tim was promoted to Sergeant First Class, giving him more responsibility and power in the department. He also reconnects with his sister Gennifer (Peyton List) to help renovate and sell their old home. In Season 5, Gennifer moved to Los Angeles, much to Tim's excitement, and he mustered up the courage to finally ask Lucy out on a date.

Eric Winter as Tim Bradford (Rank: Police Officer III/Sergeant I)

Eric Winter has appeared on such TV shows as Witches of East End, Secrets and Lies and Rosewood. he also has Most recently, he starred in the Hallmark films Finding Santa and A Scent of Summer.

We were first introduced to Angela as the TO of Jackson West (Titus Makin Jr.). Like Tim, she is strict, but she keeps an eye on Jackson and is happy to see his progress. After years as TO, Angela gets promoted to her dream detective job at the start of season 3. At this point, Angela's life has undergone some drastic changes. She got engaged to attorney Wesley Evers and found out she was pregnant. In the chaos of both her career and her family life taking off, she was kidnapped at her wedding by the ruthless drug lord Rafiera (Camille Guaty). Since being rescued, Angela has had her hands full in seasons 4 and 5 as she tries to balance her work and family life. Fortunately, she has Wesley and her friends at the station to support her. She and Wesley also named their baby boy after Jackson, who was killed by Rafiera's men at their wedding.

Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez (Rank: Police Detective I)

Alyssa Diaz recently had leading roles in television shows such as Zoo and Narcos: Mexico, and in Ray Donovan. She also voiced Renee Montoya's character in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 2.

Wesley was not proud of growing up in a very wealthy family, but his mother Patrice (Jane Daly) did. When they first started dating Angela, Patrice was very disapproving of their relationship, thinking she didn't deserve the name Evers. Fortunately, over time, Wesley managed to get his mother and Angela to reconcile their differences and become friends. In Season 4, we see Wesley become the crooked lawyer for crime boss Elijah Stone (Brandon Jay McLaren). Unbeknownst to the LAPD, Wesley turned to Elijah after Angela's kidnapping, but working for him came at a price. Fortunately, Elijah was quickly taken down by the LAPD, however, in doing so, Wesley had to admit that his actions were genuine. Wesley was temporarily suspended so that while suspended, he provided free legal advice to the local community. In season 5, he starts a new job at the D.A.'s office, but Elijah is back on the streets, causing trouble in his personal and professional life.

Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers

Sean Ashmore is probably best known for his role as Bobby Drake/Iceman in the X-Men film series. He has also starred in TV shows such as "The Follower," "Conviction," and "Boys," as well as the video games "Quantum Break" and "Man of Medan."

Wade served in the United States Army before joining the Los Angeles Police Department. At the station, he's the watch commander, which means he oversees many, if not all, of the ongoing investigations. He often assigns officers the next task. He also does briefings for larger missions, which can involve large parts of the team, or even external reinforcements/task forces such as the FBI. Over the past few seasons, we've seen Wade contemplate retiring from the LAPD, and his wife Luna (Angel Parker) wants to retire early because of his age. In seasons four and five, he continues to serve as the duty commander, while guiding John and Tim on their new career paths as a union representative and sergeant.

Richard T. Jones as Wade Grey (Rank: Sergeant II)

Richard T. Jones has appeared in numerous television shows such as "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles", "Hawaiian Five Zero" and "The Santa Clarita Diet". He also recently appeared in Movies The Public and Round of Your Life.

First seen in season 2, we meet Nyla, who decides to stop working undercover after four years in hopes of becoming a more stable presence in her daughter's life. She is trying to get shared custody of Lila with ex-husband Donovan. Looking for a new role with the LAPD, Nyla is assigned to be John's new TO, but she initially finds it difficult to adapt to the role after she goes undercover. In seasons 3 and 4, Nyla develops a stronger relationship with Lila and begins to mend her relationship with Donovan so they can continue to amicably co-parent their children. She also began dating James Murray, a worker at a local community center, and eventually married. In season 5, the newlyweds have their first child, and Nyla is now a detective.

Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper (Rank: Police Detective I)

Mekia Cox has recently appeared on television shows such as Amanda Warner on Secrets and Lies, Dr. Robyn Charles on Chicago Med and Tiana on Once Upon a Time.

Bailey debuts in the season 3 finale as John's date to Angela and Wesley's wedding. she's a firefighter in los angeles Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), and Army National Guard Reserves. In season 4, Bailey and John officially started dating, but things turned volatile when her abusive ex-husband resurfaced. Despite some early road bumps, the two are now stronger than ever as they move in together. John is also going to propose to Bailey. But in season 5, he was pleasantly surprised when she proposed to him, and of course, he said yes!

Jenna Dewan reprises her role as Lucy Lane on the television shows Supergirl and Superman & Lois. She has also appeared on shows such as American Horror Story: Asylum, Witches of East End and The Resident.

Recently introduced in Season 4, we first meet Aaron when he arrives at the LAPD to start his rookie training with Nyla as his TO. While on vacation overseas, Aaron was named the prime suspect in the murder of his best friend, putting him in the media spotlight. Even though he knows he's innocent (an official vindication later in the season), this new public perception has made his professional and personal life very difficult. his Relations with his mother also remain strained as she tries to capitalize on his "fame" by forcing him to appear on reality TV.

Tru Valentino as Aaron Thorsen (Rank: Police Officer I)

As Aaron Thorsen was Tru Valentino's first major live-action role. However, he has more recently voiced and played lead roles in animated series such as Fast and Furious Spy Racers, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, and Cuphead.

Other recurring notables in the rookie show include Brent Huff as Officer Quigley Smith (Class: 3rd Class), Enver Jokaj as Neila's ex-husband Donovan Towns, Cassin Ross as Nyla and Donovan's daughter Lila Town, Dylan Conrick as Tamara Collins, Arjay Smith as Nyla's husband James Murray, Kanoa Goo as Assistant Attorney Chris Sanford, Lisseth Chavez as Rookie Celina Juarez, she joined the crew in season 5, John is her trainer. Annie Wersching also reprises her role as serial killer Rosalind Dyer, who managed to escape police custody before her trial in season 5. Shockingly, however, she was shot and killed by her unknown accomplice, who evaded the LAPD and police. FBI. sounds like a new big The story has just begun...
