Although the film has struggled to kick-start the franchise, Grease 2 (1982) was far less popular than its predecessor. Still, Paramount will try to breathe new life into the long-dormant franchise with brand new shows launching later this year. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (2023) takes place years before the original Grease movie, again at Rydell High School, but now with an all-new cast of characters. As the title suggests, the protagonists of this particular story will be a group of teenagers who form the "Pink Ladies," an exclusive club of rebellious young women who basically rule the school. The new series promises to explore the origins of the iconic group and explain how exactly it came to be before Sandy, Rizzo, Francie, Jane and Marty joined the beloved cast.

When and Where Is Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Releasing?
Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' brief trailer introduces the four girls who are expected to be members of the show's Pink Ladies gang. We also see a somewhat familiar face, and the only returning character we know of so far, a slightly younger principal, Mackey (Jackie Hoffman), who is only an assistant principal at this point. The remaining forty-five-second trailer contains a lot of what you'd expect from a Grease show, including classic cars, rebellious teens, and even some flashy musical numbers, one of which is playing the iconic opening track original. Eagle-eyed fans might also notice a greaser with a leather jacket with the T-Bird logo etched on it, suggesting the boyband's origins from Grease might also be explored.

In 1954, four years before the original Grease, before rock 'n' roll ruled and before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school. It follows four fed-up outcasts who dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.
As previously stated, Jackie Hoffman ("Murder in Only the Building") will play the role of Assistant Principal McGee, taking over the role of Eve Arden ("Anatomy of a Murder"), who had Played the role in "Grease" and "Grease 2". Other key cast members of "Pink Lady" include Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notatomaso as Cynthia, Tricia as Nancy Fukuhara and Shanelle Bailey as Hazel. The chorus also includes Madison Thompson as Susan, Jonathan Nevis as Ricky, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Maxwell Whittington Cooper as Wally and Chris Mack as Mr. Daniels Nally, as well as Charlotte Kavanagh, Josette Halpert, Nicholas McDonough, Maximo Weber Salas and Alexis Flanks to name a few.

It all depends on how many people tuned into Rise of the Pink Ladies during the first season. If enough viewers and critics agree that "grease is the word," it's much more likely that the Pink Lady will return for a second season.
