Newly released poster showing protagonist Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy). The live-action version will finish filming in South Africa in August 2022, and season 1 will consist of 10 episodes, as Netflix is currently ordering only one season. The production of the play will officially kick off in 2020 Cape Town, but postponed due to the pandemic, to resume in March 2021. Netflix's One Piece adaptation is in partnership with Tomorrow Studios, with manga creator Eichiro Oda joining Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Steve Maeda (CSI: Miami, Lost), Marty · Adelstein and Becky Clements. Owens and Maeda also serve as writers and producers.
