'Fast X': Vin Diesel teases upcoming new trailer

Before long, we were reunited with the Kuai family.

Now, more than 20 years after the first installment of the impossibly action series, Vin Diesel teased fans on social media ahead of the arrival of the first trailer for Fast X. Earlier, Diesel shared a picture on his Instagram of himself playing the role of Dominique Toretto, captioning the photo: "Trailer coming next month...#FastX" . The upcoming film serves as a precursor to the series finale, part of a double act aimed at rounding out the franchise.

As is customary with the Fast and the Furious films, a large ensemble cast - or family - has been put together. Returning gang members include Sung Kang as Han, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty, Tyrese Gibson as Roman, Ludacris as Tye, Jordana Brewster as Mia and Charlize Theron as Cipher , Lady Helen Mirren as Queenie and Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsay.

Fast X also introduces Jason Momoa as the latest villain with sinister plans that the gang of enterprising street racers-turned-secret agents must contend with. Momoa has previously spoken about joining the franchise, calling his character a "very pompous bad boy". He will be joined by Rita Moreno, who will play Dom's grandmother, the Toretto family, and Brie Larson also debut as a character named Tess.

There will also be surprises, as is customary for the franchise, and, among other things, John Cena is rumored to be reprising his role as Dom's (of course) long-lost brother, Jakob Toretto, whom the crew beat in Fast 9 , giant magnets and all, before suggesting that the legendary wrestler's character will "turn into a babyface." Franchise stalwart Jason Statham, who makes a cameo in the end credits scene at the end of F9, may also be in the game.

Diesel has hinted that there is not much to cover in one film, and that Louis Leterrier needed to split the film in half to ensure the final story was properly told.

As you know, we get to travel to all these wonderful places. And they’re part of the reason why Fast [and Furious] 10 has to be broken into two different movies — it’s because there’s so much ground to cover. And there’s so many places in so many locations in the world that we have to visit.

Since its inception in 2001, the Fast franchise has grossed more than $6.6 billion, making it one of Universal's most valuable assets. Released in 2015, Fast and Furious 7 is the tenth highest-grossing film of all time.
